Russian Navy website,
reported by Pascal Vagnat, 16 Dec 1998
The Russian Navy website is not a good source. We know about lot of
mistakes at this website.
Victor Lomantsov, 20 Jan 2001
The Navy of USSR had 4 broad-pennants: All they had the navy ensign at the hoist and the fly of different colours:
The only pre-1972 use of
two-letter abbreviations on
Soviet uniforms that I know of is the Navy’s use of BF
(for Baltic Fleet), SF (for Northern Fleet), TF
(for Pacific Fleet) and ChF (for Black Sea Fleet) and
F (for General Fleet Service).
