The flag at
pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct) looks too simple - at Lexjuris
site the same flag seems to have the coat of arms in the middle,
although the description of the flag doesn't mention it there.
Perhaps the flag can be used with and without Coat
of Arms. Coamo is in central Puerto Rico, some 50 km east of
Ponce. Founded 1579; there are 35,000 inh. . Flag and CoA were
adopted 5 August 1969

Coamo - Its flag has three horizontal stripes: red the upper
one, yellow in the center, and black the lower one. It should fly
with the black stripe down.May or may not have the shield and its
proportions are two parts high by three parts long.

The Coat of Arms is not an official part of the flag.
The official flag is only red, gold and black in equal
proportions and in that order top to bottom.

the flag is with Coat of Arms. Some local
info: The name "San Blas Illescas de Coamo" is made of
three parts. "San Blas" is the patron saint of the
town, according to Catholic tradition. "Illescas" is
the Spanish town the founders came from (nowadays in Toledo
province, Castile-La Mancha, Spain). "Coamo" is an
indigenous word that means "valley". The coat of arms
is characterized by its colors (red, black, yellow and white) and
several symbols Coamo's history. The flag takes its colors from
the coat of arms.

The flag of Coamo Puerto Rico does not use the shield in the
flag. This is the official page of Coamo and here the flag
is without the shield: <www.coamo.puertorico.pr>.
